ToggleWhy opt for a mini skip hire?
There are many advantages to a mini skip hire, such as:
- Cost
Why pay more for a larger skip if you don’t need one? A cheap mini skip hire may be all that you need for a small domestic job. From clearing away garden waste or disposing of unwanted household clutter. Deal with your waste efficiently and save money with a smaller skip. For the small skip hire cost contact us on 08005003152.
- Accessibility
A mini skip takes up less space than a traditionally sized builders skip and should fit on your property more easily. If you have a mini skip placed on your driveway, or private land, you won’t need a council permit. You will also have a shorter distance to cover to deposit items in the skip. This means you will usually be able to have your mini skip placed in a more accessible and convenient spot.
- Convenience
If you need to remove rubbish or unwanted household items, or deal with waste left over from a bathroom or kitchen refit, a small skip hire may be the easiest and most convenient option for you rather than having to take items to the local tip. Save yourself the time, effort and expense of having to make several trips to the tip when you can simply have it removed directly from your property.
What is the size of a mini skip? How much waste will it hold?
Our small 2-yard mini skips dimensions are 5ft x 4ft x 3ft (L x W x H), or in metres that is about: 1.5m x 1.2m x 0.9m (L x W x H). To give you an approximate estimate of the capacity of the mini skip, it is roughly equivalent to 25 black bags.
Although we call these small skips ‘mini skips’ they are surprisingly capacious and are generally found to be ideal for garden clearance, household items that you wish to get rid of, and waste created by refurbishments and similar projects.
When researching “small skip hire prices near me” you may find that our 2 yard skip is the cheap mini skip hire that you are looking for. Book on our site or call us on 08005003152 for more information and a free quote.

This handy skip is still small enough to fit easily on most driveways. It’s able to handle more waste than the 2 yard mini skip. Our team will contact you via SMS messages and/or email if there are any delays or changes.
How long will I have my small skip hire for?
When you hire a small skip you will have 2 weeks from the day it is deposited until it is collected. We should note that you will need to be present for both deposit and collection of your skip. This is so that the appropriate paperwork can be signed off and to ensure that your small skip hire is as smooth as possible for all parties.
How should I fill my skip / what’s the best approach/method?
We suggest you start by loading in your more bulky and heavier waste – you can then place other items on top of this solid base. Feel free to break down larger objects such as furniture. This helps to be more space efficient. Smaller, loose items can be deposited at the top.
Be sure to not overfill your skip as this may result in the collection driver refusing to remove your skip and you incurring a wasted journey charge. Please fill your skip up to the fill line only.
What items can I place in my skip? What is prohibited?
When you hire a small skip you can fill it with general garden and construction waste. This includes mud, clay, soil, branches etc. You can also include general household waste such as furniture items like tables and chairs etc.
We do have a list of items which are not allowed, including: electrical items (such as TVs, fridges, microwaves), fluorescent tubes, gas bottles and cylinders, aerosols, paint tins, oils, petrol, diesel, mastic tubes, clinical waste, food waste, asbestos, and batteries. We also ask that you not include more than 1 roll of carpet. If you have any doubts or questions about any type of waste you intend to put in the skip, give us a call and we will be able to let you know if it’s permitted or not.
What if I need to dispose of hazardous materials? Is that permitted?
If you have hazardous waste, such as asbestos, that you want to get rid of, you cannot place that in a standard skip. We do however supply specialist skips which are secure and enclosed. If you contact us we will be able to provide you with the information you need according to the type of hazardous waste you need to remove. We are here to help with your skip hire needs.
What if I need a larger skip?
If you think that your small skip hire will not be sufficient for your needs, then we have a huge range of larger skips to choose from. The largest skip that is permitted on UK public roads is our 8 yard builders skip. This skip has dimensions of 12ft x 6ft x 4.5ft (L x W x H) and will hold approximately 80 black bin bags or 16 washing machines.
Our range of skips that can be delivered on a standard skip lorry go all the way up to our large 16 yard skips. Anything bigger than that would be our Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) skips which are delivered by freight lorry. You can hire a 20,30,35 or 40 yard RoRo skip (call for details).
