It goes without saying that if any of these prohibited items are discovered in your skip, we may be unable to collect and an extra charge may be applied. You will have to remove these items before the skip is taken away for processing.
For asbestos removal, you will be provided with an 8-yard skip with a lockable door. These require a permit and must be placed on private land with a barrier around the skip. The removal of asbestos has to be carried out by trained professionals; we will be able to organise all of this for you.

We also supply other, less common types of skip including 2, 10, 14, and 16 yard skips which are all delivered on a standard skip lorry. For industrial applications, we can supply Roll-on, Roll-off (RoRo) skips via a freight lorry. These come in 20, 25, 30, and 40 yard sizes.
It is advisable to call our customer service team if you do not see the skip size you need on our site. This is because RoRo’s are priced very differently from standard skip sizes, and are hired based both on the area and waste type stated in the conditions of the contract. Most companies will require a delivery and collection fee as well as 2-3 tonnes of a specific waste type, which can be as much as 12 tonnes upfront in some cases. When you speak to us, we’ll go through all of your options and make sure we find the best deal, in these cases we will always tailor the quote to your specific needs.
How do I fill a skip correctly?
It may seem like a no brainer but there is actually a preferred method of filling up your skip. It is common sense when you think about it; the best thing to do is fill the skip up with the bulkiest waste first to create a solid base to add other waste on top of. You can also break down any large furniture items to further increase the efficient use of the space available to you.
So, why is it so important to maximise the use of space?
This is because every skip has a fill line that you cannot go over. There can be serious consequences if you overfill your skip so we recommend taking notice of where the fill line is before you proceed. If the skip is overfilled, the driver can decline to take collection and will be forced to return another day. This could incur a wasted journey charge, on top of your hire price. Please make sure you are aware of the fill line before adding waste.
What’s the difference between an open-top and a maxi-skip?
Some of the terminology can be a little confusing, so we’ve broken it down for you below. Usually an open-top skip is used in domestic waste management situations. Maxi-skips will be RoRo’s, and used for getting rid of waste on an industrial scale.
Open-top skips – these skips are available in a range of sizes and are suitable for most everyday jobs. These are a popular and versatile choice for most general waste disposal.
Maxi-skips – these enclosed top skips are usually used for large jobs with lots of waste to dispose of. The purpose of the enclosed top is to add a layer of security, preventing fly tipping and unauthorised access.
